Our Story
Coravin was established in 2013 by Greg Lambrecht, a wine enthusiast with dual degrees in Nuclear and Mechanical Engineering from MIT. The story of Greg’s first Coravin invention dates back to the late 1990s when his wife was pregnant with their first child, and he was stuck either drinking an entire bottle of wine or pouring it out a few days later when it oxidized.
Greg is a developer of new medical devices, including one that utilizes an ultra-gentle and precise needle for pediatric chemotherapy delivery. Combining his expertise in medical-grade needles with his love for wine, Greg invented a unique wine preservation system that allows wine to be poured without removing the cork, enabling him to enjoy just one glass of wine and save the rest for weeks, months, or years later.
